St Paul's, Balsall Heath MAR16

Trust Staff ran an Outreach Day at St Paul's Community School in Balsall Heath, Birmingham - the first time the Trust and St Paul's have worked together.

A green woodworking day was planned so we brought our shave horses and cleaving brake and set them up in St Paul's wonderful garden space. The school is small and most of the pupils were able to take part in splitting sweet chestnut planks and shaving the bark. Despite the cold pupils and staff loved the physical aspect of making a bench and, with Rogers’ guidance, managed to create a durable and striking seat in the heart of their garden. Other pupils made a series of bird feeders.

Trust staff joined St Paul's pupils and staff for lunch and Anthony addressed the school assembly, giving everyone an insight into the Trust, the farm and our work ahead of St Pauls’ camping trip to the Trust in the summer.
