Sidney Nolan:  The Greek Series

The Hellenic Museum, Melbourne, Australia     17th August - tbc

Open 7 days, 10am until 4pm.

An exhibition to celebrate Nolan's Centenary that is drawn from the Estate of the Late Lady Nolan and curated by Mark Fraser.

"It is only in myth that the truth of any country can be revealed."  Sidney Nolan.

The exhibition reveals Sidney Nolan’s fascination with Greek history, mythology and culture, and is an intimate insight into an important transitional period of one of Australia’s leading Modern artists.  The Greek Series led directly into Sidney's remarkable Gallipoli paintings in which he creates an 'heroic' myth of the ANZAC soldier for modern day Australians.

Made possible by the support of the Sidney Nolan Trust.
