FIELD NOTES: FAMILY MUSIC MAZE
Saturday 18 October / 11am-3pm / The Gallery / FREE
Music Maze is a free, fun, creative and participatory workshop for children aged 8-11 and an accompanying adult family member or carer. Music Maze is organised by Birmingham Contemporary Music Group and led by composer Duncan Chapman and BCMG musicians.
Using participants own instruments and BCMG's fantastic percussion collection, together we will compose musical lines, layers and contours inspired by Field Notes, a new piece of music and textile art installation by composer Howard Skempton and artist Matthew Harris, and Treatise, an amazing graphic score by composer Cornelius Cardew. Both of these pieces wil be featured in BCMG's Field Notes performance here on Sunday 26th October.
You do not need to play an instrument to take part. Places are FREE but must be booked in advance - send us an email or phone 01544 260149.
Field Notes is produced by Birmingham Contemporary Music Group, Craftspace and Arts Alive. It receives financial assistance from Arts Council England, The Elmley Foundation and The Colwinston Charitable Trust.
