Eternal Place - Creative Space Programme 2016-17

PROGRAMME AIMS

Eternal Place - Creative Space, our 2016-17 programme, will deliver four important, multi-disciplinary residencies for 16 artists.  Time spent in the eternal landscape of The Rodd offers artists, individually and in small, collaborative groups, the chance to experience a place of natural beauty that incorporates the marks of thousands of years of human endeavour. The residencies will be accompanied by open studio events, master classes and talks as well as the evolving Green Room which will chart the programme's journeys and outcomes.

Alongside the residencies we will be providing opportunities for young people from deprived communities to explore their creative potential in a rural setting and to engage with residency artists and with Sidney Nolan's legacy.

Speaking about why the Arts Council invests in artist development, Peter Knott, Area Director, explained: “One of our ambitions is to support artists across England at all levels of their career. This latest residency programme will support established and emerging artists to develop their practice and share ideas that might take their work in new and exciting directions. It’s great that the local community will become part of the programme through opportunities to engage with the work whilst it is being created.”

Announcing the programme, Sidney Nolan Trust Director, Anthony Plant, said: “At The Rodd we strive to create opportunities for everyone to experience art of the highest calibre.  The Arts Council’s support for this residency programme helps us to do exactly that; to bring the work and ideas of exceptionally creative artists within the reach of those who have little or no opportunity to engage in the arts.”
