Sidney Nolan at Presteigne Festival

The thirty-fifth annual celebration of music, musicians and the arts features a range of events celebrating the centenary year of Sidney Nolan who was also a founder-President of the festival. In addition to the Nolan exhibition at The Rodd and the chance to see his studio, open to the public for the first time, the following events are also taking place over the Festival:

Thursday 24th August, 10am & 2pm: WALK AND DRAW WORKSHOPS

Join artist and lecturer Celia Johnson to walk the landscape of The Rodd, making drawings or written responses to the sights and sounds of the unique border environment that so inspired Sidney Nolan. £15, click here to book

Friday 25th August, 4pm, Assembly Rooms: FILM - SUCH IS LIFE

A special screening of this wonderful 1986 documentary by Australian film maker Brian Adams OAM who travelled extensively with Sidney and Mary. the film includes rare footage of Nolan at work and also enjoying a recital at The Rodd given by Adrian Williams, Alexander Baillie and Mary Heyler. Brian Adams will be at the screening and we hope to arrange an informal conversation event at The Rodd over the weekend. Tickets £6, unreserved. 

Monday 28th August, 11am, Assembly Rooms: TALK - SIDNEY NOLAN - GLOBAL ARTIST

A talk by Dr Simon Pierse, Emeritus Senior Lecturer at Aberystwyth University School of Art, author of Australin Art and Artists in London 1950-1965. Tickets £6 unreserved. 

Monday 28th August, 7pm, St Andrew's Church: MEMORIAL CONCERT FOR MARY NOLAN
