The Chinese painters of the Han and Sung dynasties used extraordinary geological forms to model imaginary sacred hills. In the flat lowlands of Northern Europe, the Renaissance artist, Joachim Patinir, created geological vistas of holy rocks, mountains and rivers termed weltandschaft or world landscapes.
This is a ‘drop in’ and have a go opportunity, ideal for families, to make a long scroll painting of an imaginary Marches landscape using collage, printing and paint.
